Why verification happens
Betting operators have to confirm who their customers are. It protects against fraud, underage gambling and stolen payment details. In practice, that means checking that the person on the account is real, is old enough, and matches the payment methods being used.
Verification is most often requested before a first withdrawal, but it can also be asked for at other times, such as after changes to your details or unusual account activity.
How verification works
You receive a request
A notice in your account or a message tells you what's needed.
Prepare the documents
Usually a valid photo ID. Further documents, such as proof of a payment method, may be requested in some cases.
Upload clear images
All four corners visible, no glare, text readable, and nothing edited or cropped.
Wait for the review
The status shows in your account. You'll be told if anything else is needed.
Verification is confirmed
Withdrawals and other restricted actions become available.
The request itself lists exactly which documents are needed for your account. Follow it rather than sending extra documents in advance.

Why verification gets held up
The name doesn't match
The name on the account must match the ID. Ethiopian names follow the given name–father–grandfather pattern, so check the order and spelling. If they were entered differently at registration, ask support to correct them.
The date of birth doesn't match
Check whether the date was entered in the Ethiopian calendar instead of the Gregorian one.
The image is unreadable
Retake the photo in good light, flat on a table, without flash glare.
The document has expired
Upload a valid, current document.
Protecting your account
- Use a unique password of at least 12 characters, and never reuse your email password.
- Turn on any extra sign-in protection your security settings offer.
- Keep your phone number and email up to date. They're how you recover access.
- Only download the app from melbet.et.
- Never share login details or security codes, not even with someone claiming to be Melbet staff.
- Sign out on shared devices.
Payment security
Payments go through the cashier inside your account. Only use payment methods registered in your own name. Payouts to third-party accounts are generally refused. If you see a transaction you don't recognise in your history, change your password and contact support straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Melbet ask for my ID?
To confirm you are who the account says you are, that you're of legal age, and that payments are yours. It protects your balance from fraud.
When do I need to verify my account?
Usually before your first withdrawal, and sometimes at other times. The request in your account says what's needed.
How long does verification take?
It depends on the documents and how clear they are. Your account shows the current status. Clear images are the biggest factor in a quick review.
Is my Melbet account safe?
Account security depends on the platform and on your own habits. Use a unique password, keep your contact details current and only sign in at melbet.et.
